I’m British and beleive me the NHS is not perfect but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Every election here is fought on the NHS. With ‘Its safe in our hands’ My husband was sent to our local NHS hospital with chest pains, he was given blood tests ECG and a chest xray, with no waiting involved. A relative received a full heart lung transplant with no cost involved. No body here goes brankrupt due to health bills. We are not taxed to the hilt, and don’t wish we were American

I am surprised America is 37 in health care. I would’ve guessed close to 130 because insurance sucks

TMWKK February 8, 2010 at 1:15 pm

well the thing is that the more taxes you pay you are paying for drug dealers and illegals who dont have tp p[ay taxes
thatsy why americans are afriad of paying taxes man

wtfomfg27 February 8, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Exactly! Someone with some sense! And speaking the truth. That is DOUBLE what most people in the US pay for taxes. Idiots.

wtfomfg27 February 8, 2010 at 3:45 pm

LMAO! Yes I want to pay 40% of what I make to the gov’t instead of 28%. And news flash, I do NOT spend 12% of my income on health insurance. Nobody does. Have a nice day.

MikeHockisuge February 8, 2010 at 3:47 pm

LMAO! “this is not America” hahaha

All people are who are unemployed are not lazy!!! Some people are looking for a job & can’t find one. It took me a year to find a full time job & I have a college degree. So for a whole year I had no insurance. It’s hard to find a job now. Many of my college friends who have degrees have to work at clothing stores because it is so hard to find work. They still deserve to have medical coverage. I have a 4 year degree and had to take a job at Wal-Mart just to support myself and have insurance.

bob1lurati February 8, 2010 at 9:50 pm

i wish America had free health coverage. It would America a way better country.

genxv February 8, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Just wanted to make a correction on this. Massachusetts does NOT have single-payer healthcare. Mitt Romney pushed for universal coverage (not to be confused with universal healthcare). Under universal coverage EVERYONE is required to have health insurance and for those of low income this can mean subpar coverage with all the pains of high premiums, deductibles, co-pays, denial of claims bla bla bla. Guess who’s laughing to the bank? Insurance companies (and maybe Romney too)

pietinkler February 8, 2010 at 10:38 pm

yeah pretty much im the last one!!! hehe.. oh! not the second last one! the very last one and not the health thing… my friend has a friend whos a bum!!!

TSchlags83 February 8, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Im an American just like the rest of us but we have to look at this and if you like or you don’t like it support the reason behind Michael Moores documentories (I know i spelt that wrong). He is what america is suposed to stand for freedom.

martinking68 February 8, 2010 at 11:40 pm

A lot of supporters of universal healthcare have rather simple-minded analyses. But I still agree with them. According to an article on wikipedia about “Healthcare”, Afghanistan and Iraq have universal healthcare that is funded by the U.S. Very ironic. The federal government pays for the universal coverage for two other countries but not its own.
